Computational Simulation and Characterization of Materials
The Scientific Group in the Micromechanics & Microstructure Control Laboratory (http://mmcl.designbr.gethompy.com/bizdemo14325/?enter=ok) at Sunchon National University, Republic of Korea has a Ph.D/Post-doc openings in the area of multi-scale computational simulation such as Ab-initio, DFT, MD, MC, VPSC, CPFEM, FEM (particularly Ab-initio and DFT) and characterization of materials (EBSD/SEM).
The successful candidate will participate in the research activities related to materials simulation by first-principles Density Functional Theory (DFT) and related experimental works for microstructure and material designs using EBSD/SEM and mechanical testing.
Requires a bachelors/Masters/Ph.D. in Physics/Materials Science/Mechanical Engg. (preferably Physics with DFT simulation experience and Materials Science).
• Knowledge of quantum mechanics, continuum mechanics, molecular dynamics, mathematics, and numerical analysis.
• Basic understanding of characterization tools such as EBSD/SEM and mechanical behavior of materials.
• Communication skills (particularly English) are essential.
